New Guelph Solar Ground Mount VIDEO

Dec 9, 2020

Impromptu chat with Steve Dyck, President of Guelph Solar and customer Jason about an impressive (and big) new ground mount installation near Guelph, Ontario. Jason's goal was to take his electric bill down to as close to zero as possible, and that's exactly what this system is doing. It's a 22 kW solar ground-mount installation, with 10 kWs going via grid tie back to Hydro One - the provincial electric utility in Ontario. One kilowatt (kW) is equal to 1000 watts (W), which means, right in his backyard, Jason is now generating 22,000 watts of sun powered, carbon free electricity.

Transcript:

Hey Jason, we've been working together for about 10 to 12 years now, right?

Jason: "Yeah, that's right."

Steve: "You had a nice house in Guelph with some solar equipment on it. We didn’t install it, but we’ve been maintaining it and keeping it going, correct?"

Jason: "That's right."

Steve: "And now you’re building this beautiful new home. It’s quite a vision, quite a dream. I’m really inspired by it. So, what’s happening here with the solar setup?"

Jason: "This is a 22-kilowatt system. About 10 kilowatts will go back to Hydro One, so it’ll offset my energy bill quite a bit. The goal is to reduce the bill as close to zero as possible."

Steve: "That sounds like a solid plan. It’s a long-term solution for local energy, and I’m really glad we’re working together again."

Jason: "Likewise."
